Radiant Skin Supplements

Grace, one of my friends, recently came to me with a question that I’m sure many of you have asked at some point. "What supplements can I take to make my skin glow again?"

This led me to put together a list of the best natural supplements for skin health, that I want to share with you too.

Firstly, I recommended Guava Leaf to Grace. Guava leaf is a fantastic source of natural zinc. In the world of skincare, zinc is like the unsung hero, working behind the scenes to maintain skin health and integrity. It plays a vital role in cell regeneration and DNA synthesis, both of which are fundamental for maintaining the skin’s glow. Furthermore, studies have also shown that zinc can help decrease inflammation and reduce the occurrence of acne. For zinc supplementation, I strongly recommend guava leaf, a plant, instead of the lab-produced zinc as it helps with better absorption and it’s higher quality.

Next up on the list was Borage Oil. This little-known oil is a secret weapon in the fight for radiant skin. Rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a type of fatty acid, borage oil is incredibly beneficial for the skin. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can help alleviate dry and damaged skin by strengthening the natural barrier of the skin. Borage oil's GLA content also aids in skin hydration, thus promoting a healthier, youthful appearance. Borage is a beautiful flower, and I like to take the borage oil in capsule forms.

We then moved on to Chlorophyll. Yes, you read it right – the same chlorophyll we learned about in school, the one that helps plants photosynthesize. As it turns out, chlorophyll is also excellent for our skin. It has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help fight skin aging and reduce acne. Plus, its detoxifying properties aid in flushing out toxins from our body that can often manifest as dull, unhealthy skin.

Fourth on the list was Vitamin C from Acerola and Camu-Camu. Vitamin C, being an antioxidant powerhouse, helps neutralize harmful free radicals, stimulates collagen production, and brightens the skin, contributing to an overall radiant complexion. Once again, I recommend taking vitamin C from plat extracts rather than from lab-produced vitamins.

Finally, I suggested Hyaluronic Acid (a combination of three different sizes for optimal absorption). Don't be put off by the word 'acid'; this naturally occurring substance in our bodies is incredibly hydrating. It can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, and its primary function is to retain water to keep your tissues well-lubricated. When it comes to the skin, hyaluronic acid is known to plump up the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also maintaining the skin's glow. You are probably familiar with it in skin care products, but it might be less known that you can also take it internally, as a supplement.

By incorporating these supplements into your routine, you'll not only enhance your skin's natural glow but also foster an environment of wellness in your body.

After recommending these supplements, I reminded Grace that beautiful, healthy skin isn't just about what you put inside your body, but also about how you take care of it from the outside. A holistic approach is essential.

The skin, being the largest organ, plays a significant role in detoxification, and hence keeping the liver and colon healthy is crucial. This is where a high-fiber diet and detox habits come into play. Dry skin brushing, for example, stimulates the lymphatic system (which is responsible for waste removal), exfoliates the skin, and improves circulation, contributing to a glowing complexion.

Remember: radiant skin doesn't come from a magic pill or a secret potion, but it's the result of consistent care, a balanced diet, and a lifestyle that nurtures your overall well-being.

This is the reason why at Barcelona Health Club you can find Detox Retreats focused on the overall wellbeing of the body, removing toxins at the physical level and removing trapped emotions that cause tensions.
